long kurta - indigo & shibori
an indigo long kurta with pink potli buttons.
the front placket & sleeve fabric is hand-dyed using natural indigo. *mild variations in colour are an integral part of hand-dyeing process*
the side kali is tie & dye fabric. this type of tie & dye is called "clamp dye".
clamp dye technique is a kind of shibori, an indigenous japanese technique where the fabric is sandwiched between 2 pieces of wooden clamp & held tightly. this fabric is then dipped into indigo. the wooden clamps prevent the dye from penetrating through the fabric, creating interesting shapes.
100% cotton fabric hand-dyed, clamp-dyed using natural indigo.
*indigo as a natural dye will rub on skin & light coloured clothes. this is an inherent quality of natural dye*
